Our pets always have human names, and I've named a bunch of the chickens at the sanctuary where I volunteer and they're Reggie, Caroline, Terrence, Lavinia, Deborah, etc.
Cats of Yore I’m a TikTok refugee and not sure how to post to a feed to share my cats. Can someone help explain? Pretty please? Also look at this boy with his toy:
I posted a reply in cats of yore's skeet. But basically, just put a # in front of the word (like cat or cats) and the site will route it to the correct feed.
It's a little different but tags are now working. My best advice for having a good experience here is to have real engagement and block ppl who are assholes. Welcome.
On the top banner, right-hand side, click the *hashtag symbol* for the Feed Page. Use Search Bar to find your interests [there are many!] and follow that feed. 😊
Each feed shows you what things to use to tag into it.
Follow as many as you like or start your own.
Hashtags work differently here.
He was a very bouncy baby so Zebedee (the springy character from Magic Roundabout) seemed appropriate. Sadly he died before I had an iPhone so no shareable pictures. But he was a big stripey tabby. V much missed.
That’s so cool! It’s sad they can’t stay with us forever except in our hearts and memories! I lost my Mazzy girl a few years ago. Still miss her cuddles so much!
Z has been gone 14 years now. And my Dougal passed 4 years ago. They are still around in my heart, but I miss D hogging the whole bed and Z’s “water boarding” approach to the cat fountain.
Follow people you like, and chat. Build connections. One thing I like about bsky is that because (unlike Xitter) there's no "algo suppression" on the default Following feed, I actually get to see what people I follow post, and people who follow me get to see what I post.
Finally, a really good way to get your posts shared by (colloq.) high quality accounts is to include ALT text, also known as an image description. A little or a lot - just make it accurate, and put it on as many posts as you can. There's a toggle in settings to require it every time you post media.
Adding on. Labelers are very powerful. They are third party tools that range from the silly (a label if a picture has beans in it) to the serious (this account often uses slurs). They are third party though, so only as good as who maintains them.
That’s perfect! I love this! Reminds me of how Indiana Jones renamed himself Indiana after his childhood! Which was inspired by George Lucas’s dog which is also why we got Chewbacca! My friend and I learned this last night! 😁
My oldest cat is named Agatha after Agatha Christie. Everyone loves her name. What they don't know is that the pet I had before her was a hamster who was super lazy and used to love to chill on the sofa and watch TV. Especially if it was Poirot or Marple. Seriously she loved it! So my cat is Agatha.

All my pets get human names, well except for my tailspot blenny Linguine.
Go to the menu, select 'Feeds' and then use the search bar e.g search 'cats'
See which you like & if you want you can pin feeds so they are easy to go back to
Good luck!

There is no inherent algorithm. Custom algorithms, called feeds, are the backbone of this site.
Hit the # in the sidebar and type in a search term to find some feeds on that topic.
Most feeds will tell you in the description what to do to get your post listed in them!
Stand by for booping!
