I am really dismayed at how many animal welfare accounts I see regularly using AI generated images. It's really cool to see orgs like @woodstocksanctuary.bsky.social taking a public position against it. 👍

Nothing of value is lost.
People are using this tool wrong and it makes people hate the tool.
"If we created the problem we can solve the problem.".
In the environmental impact is spirally quickly because nobody is taking the time to solve that problem as it's growing.
We have plenty of options, just no one willing to spend the money
We could and should do our whole data systems and processing differently with less effortlessly impact as a whole.
It's the type of thing that pushes us into a post-capitalist post-scarcity society as the type of core technology and what it is capable of doing.
But because we've been told there's nothing beyond capitalism. It's hard to imagine
