The Rotten Egg Nebula
Constellation Puppis
Distance 5,000 light years
Discovered by William Herschel 1786
Length 1.4 light years
Named after its high sulfur content it's a star of similar size as our sun but in its early stages of planetary nebula formation

That's pretty high up the periodic table to be found in an area of star formation. I always thought nebulae by definition were mostly hydrogen condensing into stars.

There are four types of nebulae: emission, reflection, dark, & planetary.
Unlike other nebulae, planetary nebulae (misnamed - not planet forming) are the remnants of the death of a star. The sulfur represents several generations of stars collapsing to get to sulfer.

I was nicer to Canada. They know how to party. I don't stink. 🤭
I can't speak for my sisters... I don't want to start a fight. 👀
