In the 1960s and 70s, my next door neighbor had 13 bison on his farm. He called to them like puppies and they followed him. I pet some on their noses but never went inside the fence with them. My local elementary school was built in 1968 and chose the Bison as its school mascot.
He's a bachelor bull, older, done with his fighting days and just wants to lay back and eat for a living.
He's actually quit chill for a one ton giant.
