There is a crisis right now in California’s Yosemite National Park, which has stopped accepting camping reservations due to musk and trump freezing staffing and programs for the park. Yosemite management calls it “catastrophic”.

The impact goes far beyond the people who lost their jobs (which is heartbreaking on its own). Many rural communities will see a huge reduction in tourism, gutting local businesses. This is devastating for these economies!

The park had three hard years in a row.
Two for covid
One for floods
The following two years were disrupted by road construction.
So this coming year would have been the first in a while to be uninterrupted
Then the Chump got ellected and now we're screwed

It is such a wonderful place. I’m also thinking of the good people at the Grand Canyon who gave me vital information for my run-river-rim. So many people will miss out on the majesty. And so many will lose their life’s work …. And for what?

Maybe they shouldn’t have voted for the guy. Rural CA aligns politically much more with MAGA than a lot of other places in the states. Just drive through it and see all the Trump signs. Guess what? Elections have consequences. I just hope my whole state doesn’t burn down this summer.

We usually plan to visit a national park the last week in May, before they get crazy. We were going to hit some parks in Utah this year, but decided it’s too up in the air to plan on that. So no park this year 😢
