Not really. Flights from Adelaide to Hobart take no time at all. And the stadium will foster growth in accommodation, tourism, restaurants etc.

The mantra of "Build it and they will come" is not necessarily applicable to sports stadia.
If a stadium becomes an AFL oval, it becomes unattractive for sports like NRL, RU & Football, which all play on rectangular pitches. Too far away for spectators.
Stadiums need to be multi tasked for the $$.

You specifically asked Tasmanians for their views but this guy and others can’t help themselves. The stadium is not popular in Tasmania. We cannot afford it. I am a mad sports fan but we need decent healthcare and to hold onto state owned assets much more than we need the stadium.

Hobart will loose most of its charm attracting huge gatherings of sport fans. Traffic congestion will be horrific, tourism will collapse. Lambie is right, Launceston already has a suitable stadium, why waste money building another when the money can be put to far greater use. Ditch salmon farms too

New sport stadium developments (especially in NSW & Vic) exist to keep the unemployment rate down create economic activity without the government appearing to offer socialism(ie a state entity building it) effectively govt pays private enterprise builds= socialism avoided. murdoch media happy

Redevelopment of an existing facility is very different to building a new stadium. Tasmania could have redeveloped York Park in Launceston rather than go to the expense of a new stadium in Hobart at the AFL's insistence.

Parramatta stadium is huge & 12,000 people turned up to see the 5 times in a row grand finalists play.
They are using it while Penrith stadium is destroyed & rebuilt. To increase capacity from 16k to 20k.
This after wasting billions rebuilding the football stadium increasing capacity from 45k to 50k
