Also, what is it with this Bro obsession with IQ, about as meaningful as Myers-Briggs for assessing work ability, empathy, and character?Kind of needy and 'beta', no?

They are lizard people and have to quantify everything in order to rank it, they have no emotional intelligence and can't stand not knowing where they "stand".
IQ is less meaningful than Meyers-Briggs or astrology imo. The latter at least provide a potential context for introspection. Claiming a particular IQ number is just an opportunity to be smug that it’s higher than someone else’s.
no, meyers briggs is used as a smokescreen for filtering and firing employees. there's no science behind it now or when it was made a hundred years ago. was a scam from the get-go.
The obsession with scalar single-axis ranking systems of questionable real world merit tells us more about the mind of the vice president than it does about his target
Because it's rooted in eugenics. Vance and his ilk all buy into this racial hierarchy predicated on a 'baseline' of intelligence, sublimated through right-wing thought leaders like Jordan Peterson.
Nazis were obsessed with IQ scores because they were so desperate to prove they were the superior race. It’s so obvious they are Nazis obsessed with eugenics because they constantly talk about IQ like it matters.
Like the "high-T alpha male" label, it puts a pseudo-scientific fig leaf on what these guys believe is their innate right to rule over the rest of us.
The medieval divine right of kings doesn't persuade most 21stC people, so the bros call on "science" to legitimate their delusions of grandeur.
He probably knows he sucks in every other way, but he's like "I've got this one score that proves I'm amazing, pay attention to this ONE THING, everybody!"
Because IQ tests have been proven to have cultural bias, and if he can use against a so-called equal he can also use it against someone he sees as "less than" even easier https://nrcgt.uconn.edu/newsletters/winter052/

Take some aspect of their birth and spin it into a whole life story...
The immediate sense of recoil
A few ppl pointed out they were common from 1950-early 70’s. Which makes sense with your post.
But essentially anyone under 50 has never taken them
I will be absolutely unsurprised if the tech bros try to scrub his reputation.
