Hard “no” on mixing religion with public policy. I read her book. I should have read a history book to get more evidence on why the combination of religion and government is a recipe for disaster.

Why do those with religious conviction need someone to help them feel comfortable when others are expected to use critical thinking skills to stand up for the environment all on their own? Doesn’t that just prove the point that religion belongs nowhere near public policy?

You seem to have an issue with religion. I'm not religious but I don't judge anyone by their personal beliefs. On climate change, any climate expert who wants to do something about it is worthy of my attention.

I deeply respect Katharine Hayhoe and don't see it as helpful to criticize her.

It’s sad how some are happy to let the world burn as long as it means they don’t need to have anything to do with anyone who doesn’t believe exactly as they do .

And I am giving her my attention. I read her book. If you publish your ideas, you are — IMO — inviting comment. My comments have not been critical of her as a person. Why is discussion of her approach not “helpful”? Isn’t that why we put ideas out into the public sphere?

I agree religion & politics need to be separate, but I appreciate that someone who is a climate change expert is able to reach people who might otherwise be influenced by their sphere of people telling them that we have dominion over the land.

I'm not here to argue so will cut this off here.

I am criticizing her approach because I have a problem with religion being inserted into public policy discussion. Historically, it hasn’t been productive overall. That doesn’t mean I have an issue with religion itself or Dr. Hayhoe’s credentials or faith. There is a difference.
