Even the people I have talked to I end up with messages that start "hey big boy". And the chatting I've done that seemed like getting to know me was just a sales pitch for locked content.

I have subbed to both free and paid accounts. I generally don't chat, but I have - with both types of accounts.

It's not always obvious when a response is from a bot, but it's usually obvious when it's from a person.

A bot on a free account is fine, but on a paid account it's an instant unsub.

I assume all messages from free accounts are bots. For those, it's almost always "do not initiate / reply," but sometimes a creator only has a free account and I'll give it a shot (usually it's something banal like how to pronounce their name, because usernames aren't always phonetically obvious)

For paid accounts, I'll do the above but also reply when they ask questions. I'll also ask questions, if it seems appropriate. See the earlier point where it's obvious that you're talking to a person.

Still, I assume it's a bot until proven otherwise.

AFAIK, I've never chatted with an assistant.

The feeling like bots/assistance are everywhere even on accounts that that claim they are the only person managing. I don't mind waiting for messages, honestly I prefer it.

Absolutely depends - I’ve def followed creators there where I’m chatting with a bot/ not a creator. Like you, chatting to a real person makes it so much nicer. I find the ones run by bots/ assistants wayyy too agressive. I hate getting lept upon as soon as my ‘light goes green’

That's exactly what it is. After a certain amount of followers, a lot of creators just go the hired-chatters route and it becomes really obvious and like you're just flirting with a salesman and not really the "getting-to-know-you" part.

That is so frustrating :-( I feel like most people would appreciate a “I have a lot of people on my page and it will take me time to get back to you individually” versus “I am active and available 100% of the time and will respond to your message in three minutes every time”

NO HATE WHATSOEVER in either case of course… I just find it is growing increasingly difficult for me to make genuine connections with subs because this ^ has become the norm. Or so it seems.

On the other hand, I've been a chatter for other accounts, and sometimes, depending on the marketing team, will have notes on the side to feign the connection and conversation.
Almost felt like a call center, kinda.

I get it. I have only about 300ish followers and I know most are likely bots. But the few that I get to interact with, buy content, interact respectfully (mostly), and I don't feel like I'm hounding them to just make a sale.

Even though I dont have the time to chat 24/7 with my subs. I love getting to know everyone! It can also help me keep in mind who likes what when making content plus they inspire me to make something I didn’t think of👏🏻
