I'm pretty sure a few apes have been known to kill for what appears to be fun and not for food or defense, so far as we can tell. I've certainly seen house cats hunt for fun.
It can be hard to know why they kill, when we cannot communicate.

Why are you doing the same thing … they’re animals, not humans, why is it the ‘go to’ source to humanise other species when trying to prove a point?? I may have said in my post that I’ve never had a bad experience and I stand by what I said. That doesn’t mean I believe they are unquestionably safe!!

But to scale all this back to the original point I made, dolphins are not 100% safe, nothing is, but they are far safer, IN MY EXPERIENCE, than they were originally made out to be.

And frankly, nowhere did I say they weren’t … it can be said of any intelligent species … I was simply calling out how inaccurate a statement was, especially when using poor sources to back it up.
