The Procuress, by Dirck van Baburen, who died (alas!) OTD 1624. When you wonder who in Dutch Golden Age looked at such works, know that this one was owned by Vermeer's mother-in-law. A nice Catholic lady!

2/2 Rowdy Baburen on the wall, but silence in the room, in Johannes Vermeer's Concert. I loved this painting in real life before it was stolen from the Gardner. So sad!!
3/3 There it is again! Procuress by Dirck van Baburen (d. OTD 1624) in another Vermeer from 1670. Why a Procuress behind this elegant lady? Vermeer knows.
