Some folk just like to complain. It’s their thing. Strangely they don’t care to have this pointed out viz ‘oh I’m so sorry, I didn’t realise you simply wanted to have a big old moan - off you go, I’ll shut up with my pesky solutions!’
But, seriously, it’s just not an option for SO many folk.
yes, every so often the autistic community gets wind and goes "oh new zealand hates autistic people" and it's like well sure, but every country with public healthcare has restrictions not just here. and it's not like autistic people get any support so you can't say they're a drain on resources.
Same direction of travel, but a different environment in many critical ways.
I say this with no sense of complacency, I share your anger. We won’t give it all up without a fight, eh?
I am hoping the dumpster fire that is the US will motivate others from letting their country go further in that direction.
For ex., Luigi’s act caused many in the US to share their health insurance horror stories, which in turn many in NZ said: This is the direction we are heading if we don’t stop
I get it but a lot don’t look too hard to see what challenges we face here on the daily. CoL, universal-but-not-actually-universal health care, the wooden tent syndrome. Better? Yup. A panacea? Nope. For now, less gun toting lunatics is a huge plus, let’s hope it stays that way.
Still no place I’d rather be, but fighting for simply a dose of VitD, scientifically backed as norm because ”get that fm the sun that will also cause melanoma overnight” but sold in other countries in a fkn multivitamin. But the beaches are great! Cept when being terrorised by shitty pet owners/utes
Thinking about leaving the country is the main time I wish I’d gone to medical school. The ol’ “think and write about US law” is a terrible skill to try to move with.

Better than endlessly complaining

Not hyperbole, reality
That makes me very sad and angry

These people are in power because enough people voted for them and too many people didn't vote.
Apathy loses elections
Honestly, that should be the first question on any incoming visa app from the US..
".. Did you vote?"
People are tired of politics because they see little point when it seems to make no difference.
That's why we need to throw caution to the wind and just do the right thing so we can all have the things we value, not just the wealthy
Certainly navigating the NZ immigration system is a lot easier than navigating the US immigration system.
