I want to know whether there's a viable lawsuit against a government that passes laws or regulations insisting on scientific falsehoods - in this case that biological sex is a rigid binary when it clearly isn't, and that gender is intrinsically defined by biological sex.

I’m guessing no, since oodles of reproductive care laws get enacted and enforced. Women are dying, woman in SC arrested for miscarriage. Laws don’t have to exist in reality.

It’s a tough one. Traditional journalism has frequently avoided protests of any kind as not to appear partisan because what and why of the protests is subject to opinion. That’s why it tends to fall to local and independent media, because they can appeal to a specific audience/demographic. 1/2

Something like this addresses an annual event - it happens regardless of political climate so they can report “hey this is a thing” (and make passive jabs like “this year they respond to [thing]”).

Our team member, Erika, a trans woman, was arrested due to her name change on her identification card is different than her assigned birth name so the police took it upon them selves to arrest her for “failure to identify”
