They lost weeks of working time due to the non-pause pause and now face a short staffed future with the recent terminations.

Note that non-competitive renewals do NOT have to be approved by advisory councils so these are likely to make up the bulk of the awards.

The restriction on Federal Register posts appear to be still in effect. This is blocking the (legal) scheduling of study sections and, soon, advisory council meetings. I have heard that some study section meetings that had been scheduled have been cancelled.

I will post the currently scheduled council meeting dates later tonight or tomorrow.

These are when the institutes and centers hope to hold these meetings, but they need to be formally announced in the Federal Register (so that the public knows about meetings that they cannot attend).

true. NINDS had to cancel their council last week because they could not get a waiver to do it without the forbidden open session. The register said they would have an open and closed session. Since they couldn't have the open session, they cancelled it..So there goes a whole cycle.

Also remember that non-competing renewal awards are often awarded at less than the committed level (e.g. 90%) during a CR. Once the budget is finalized for the full year, non-competing awards may be revised upward as funds allow. Even more work later…
