Included in this are the AViDD program. This was TO PREPARE for agents of pandemic potential. The DOGE bags cut it because Covid is over (it isn't) and they did not bother to understand this program.

I am very familiar with this program as I was Contact PI on a submission from Pitt. We spent a lot of our time discussing and evaluating other potentially pandemic viruses and meshing risk with scientific opportunity.

[We got a decent score but did not get funded]

I collaborate with investigators from the midwest center on other cancer projects. This was a lot of money. Sad. Lots of good science as well. Was just listening to a talk this morning where they tested m-pro inhibitors against resistance mutations

AVIDD grants were killed long before the election even, cancelled extension from 3 years of funding to years 4 and 5. It just so happens that the eclipsing of these grants coincides with the current gutting - there was already a lack of stomach to continue these large but important grants.
