It’s still too slow though. A farmer friend of mine is going to lease some of his fields for solar panels. He’s been told it will be 10 years before a licence will be granted.

The bigger question for me, someone who is not an expert, is this seems like it's an obvious eventuality, so why have successive government's dragged their feet. Im guessing lobbying of powerful legacy fossil fuel companies and the weakness and fallibility of politicians to donations and pressure.

Great news and it's fine for Murphy to talk about high energy bills and reducing reliance on oil & gas but people are not seeing benefit on their bills.

I’m just guessing that the reason neither the Tories nor Reform ‘declined to comment’ is because they’re just plain wrong, know they’re wrong, but haven’t the guts or integrity to own up to being wrong. Meanwhile they’ll be comforting themselves with the notion it’s all just ‘woke’, the dunces.
