I think these eurosceptic pieces are around shaping power struggles for dominance within the Conservative Party and now Reform. That involves a particular subset of UK society that might not even reflect wider concerns and obsessions of the Right as a whole

It's a commonplace that collapsinging print circulations limit the influence of tabloid outrage, but front page displays in supermarkets are seen by hundreds of thousands each day; and the digital reach of tabloids' online platforms is wider still. It still has a chilling effect on Labour, I think.

British anti-EU sentiment is more cultural than ideological and more emotional than reasoned. The less ambitious the cooperation, the less symbolic it is to nationalistic people until it reaches a level where it offends only a few extremists. The tabloids are milking it for the last drops.
