Indeed. If Europe can neither rely on the US for security, and potentially not for energy security, the imperative is to build a new Eastern hemisphere based strategy. Which won't be anything like wta the US is doing. It requires increasing state capacity and building alliances

he doesn't need to do anything, the not doing something is the problem. No secondary sanctions, no us intel, no starlink, no extra patriot missiles, no back stop, no NATO leadership. Just this will do a lot of damage in the short to mid term. US power vacuum is not filled overnight.

Full scale invasion is just not their forte, Russia's preferable modus operandi is simply installing puppet government. They failed in Ukraine with Yanukovych and Medvedchuk, but they succeeded in many other post-Soviet countries. In USA this simply could not happen, right? RIGHT?
