Les Baxter was the man. Father of Exotica, composer of "Quiet Village", Roger Corman's go-to soundtrack guy, kept 101 Strings going through the 1970s, and had a long-running beef with Nelson Riddle.
I had never heard of Les Baxter before I read your books (although once I dug in I did discover some familiar sounding music), but now his work is a regular fixture in my playlists - I had Space Escapade playing while I put up my Christmas tree this morning. So thank you for that.
