Members of the #SonsofLiberty (some dressed as Indians) threw 342 chests of tea off British ships to protest Britain's Tea Act of 1773, which gave the #EastIndiaCompany a monopoly on the American tea trade. The #BostonTeaParty brought tensions between colonists and the English government to a head.
