While I understand the concern, voter fraud isn't really a significant issue. Even in the USA, the statistics show that in the last 30 years, the percentage of fraud ranges between 0.00003% and 0.00015% (source: Reuters and Heritage foundation).

Secondly, as a naturalised citizen myself, I still wake up in sweats thinking of the amount of paperwork I had to fill in to get my citizenship and identification. I'd say anyone who gets citizenship has been thoroughly vetted.
I do have a habit of presenting my identification when I'm in any official setting, just to confirm. I've always presented my ID every time I've voted 🗳
