It’s a moot point whether there will be a meaningful change of government in 4 years time. EU is slow to gear up, but once it does, it doesn’t change tack easily. If it follows through on having military independence from US, there will be no going back. On goods, of course it’s a net exporter.

Europe (inc’ UK) has, over decades, become pacifistic towards any kind of trouble. Their reluctance to intervene has been demonstrated many times and will slow or prevent real action to step away from the US. In my opinion.

Yugoslav Wars where genocide was the norm the EU were reluctant to and eventually forced to intervene. Iraq and Afghan wars were driven by US, Mali by the French. I was referring to the EU’s reticence, not whether individual countries participated.

EU had/still has military observers. But it had no/does not have/maybe never will 🇪🇺 army. so what are you talking about? Are you going full JD here? EU paid a lot for civilian aspects of intervention and put people on the ground. Unless you of course think that intervention is only blowing shit up.
