Professional artists are trained to separate values in their art clearly. In my art, I often use hue as a compositional tool, which can change the order that people look at the parts of the artwork, so I consider how that will look to all viewers. I want everyone to be able to enjoy it the same way!

A hue that’s different from the surrounding hues can capture the attention of a viewer, which opens the door for some neat techniques.

For example, in the bunny art, I framed the focal area with yellows. I also find it effective to isolate a hue to the focal area(s), like in this frog piece.

Yup! In Photoshop, View > Proof Setup > Color Blindness. You can bind it to a hotkey for quickly checking.

I’m glad to hear you found it inspiring! I think for traditional art, if you photographed the piece you could run the photograph through a colorblindness simulator. You could also make a thumbnail painting first and test the colors in that :)
