One thing I’ve noticed about newer games that aren’t just “hit the thing to win” is that a lot of players don’t care to read hints or do tutorials. Some actively get annoyed when forced to do either.
They are more inclined to trial and error their play. Is this the new standard of gaming?

There is a lot a game can do before they need to subject the player to paragraphs. Even just basic "show text when hover over icon" helps.
Reading multiple paragraphs to do an action gives the excitement of reading an instruction manual.
Do you have an example of a game you noticed gamers skipping the tutorial more than usual?
I don't feel like that's *the standard*, at all, but it's a valid design option...?
I like to tell these people they're half the reason this exists:
Am I going to get reset to zero after the tutorial?
Will I be able to skip sections or do you really need me to press W, A, S and D to move before I can swing the mouse left and right to look around?
Maybe they're playing it up as a bit, but if so it's gotten really old now.
