And for anyone who is confused: NO I don't mean Voice Acting Club (they are wonderful)

I mean projects that go "We are casting for our thing! Join our discord to audition!"

Stop. Just stop. Imagine if EVERY project did that. Talents would never know peace in discord.

Discord is great for development teams and projects, absolutely. But voice talents typically are not going to be involved in the process round the clock like programmers, artists, and writers are. They get in, record, and leave.

Stop with the required discord groups joinings.

I know nothing of the industry but this seems like a reasonable take to me. I’ve always thought of discord as more of an optional “if you want to be more involved” element for team integration or a way to stay connected to projects after the fact. That might just be me though.

I agree with this. I've had to join 2 or 3 discords waiting for audition results and it just isn't fun? Like the anticipation, pings and other junk for not getting accepted just feels hollow and not great

I have skipped out on projects because they asked us to join their server for more details. I already have too many discords!
