For the first few hours Dark Souls 2 really beats your ass with the hollowing mechanic. I came to not like it at all until I got my health up and some good rings. I like it so far but DS1 is still the superior game imo

I haven't played any of the dark souls games besides only buying the 3rd, starting it, and failing to get past the first boss lol. I need to buy 1 and 2 I swear.
Buy the first one first. I’ve gone all the way to the final boss. Just haven’t defeated the final boss of the first one yet, but that’s because I hate walking all the way back. 😭
I felt that way about ghost form in the Demons Souls remake. It's such a huge handicap at the start and then you get some equipment and levels that makes it a lot more manageable. And with world tendency you're better of just staying a ghost all the time
