I’ve actually stopped buying books all the time. I use the library, and those I love, I buy. I’ve even thrown away some books I didn’t enjoy (after giving away all I could). My house is still filled with books, though
Well we're going to live through some hard times. The overconsumption of audiovisual media will eventually come to a screeching halt amidst the flames of war.
Keep books safe. Build libraries personal or shared. Sooner or later, it will be needed.
I grew up in a home with thousands of books. Living room=fiction. Family room=Non fiction. Office =periodicals. All arranged by Dewey Decimal System. As a result, I’m an avid reader but don’t own a single book. Still getting over the trauma of finding homes for all those books after my dad passed.
This is so important. A library is a repository of possibilities for the future, not a graveyard of read books. This I find is true both professionally (I am a music scholar) and with books I read for pleasure.
