I think something missed in the election analysis & why folk voted for Trump is:
White Trump voters repudiating white democratic voters
The oldest national dispute
Countless articles are written about the racism & misogyny but none/few about what I see as the main issue

It’s also correct that our society is hyper patriarchal
But we tend to ignore small and in this case the larger issue: whites rejecting other whites
Or Mexicans being deported. Or Japanese being put in camps. Or Jewish refugees being turned away. Or indigenous folk being genocided
Trump’s reelection follows the historic template.
Shorter: white on white crime
We’re secondary.
I’ve had three different people tell me it was about the “7% increase in corporate taxes.”
I repeatedly tell them that I would gladly pay 7% in corporate taxes to defend human rights and civility.
I think it is 100% incumbent on white Americans who want things to change (like myself) to not hand-wring our way back to complying with the *other* side.
What we need to do is double down on building our coalition for all.
The most common reaction from door knocking at my white peoples’ doors in NY — especially my fellow Italian-Americans — was a rejection of Democrats and my very presence, in the most nasty, nasty tone and behavior. Angrily shouting through Ring doorbells, “We switched parties!”
The book I'm currently reading alludes to the same as I mentioned to him. Great read and though provoking
