Great read! Will be interesting on McCarthy’s readiness and O’Connell’s confidence in the team’s ability to remain competitive while developing a young quarterback. I appreciate you going through the math, I’m not a cap expert. Also, it’s a bad QB, what could Sam get you? And who would target him?

We have to be brave, trust the project and build around JJ.

If we believe in KOC as a QB whisper and want to maximise the opportunity afforded in FA by having a rookie QB salary then there’s only 1 path.

Agreed on utilizing a rookie QB salary, but curious what Matthew thinks Sam could net us in a trade. I hate to see him just walk away. KOC did a lot for Sam, would be nice to get something out of it.

WASH’s success with Daniels this season has me even more hopeful for JJ. If we can keep the defense strong and bolster the O-line, he could be effective very soon.

Agreed. Would like to see us bolster the OLine and DB in FA and then go get Ashton Jeanty in the draft. Go get Brandon Scherff or Kevin Zeitler to help the OLine. Maybe D.J. Reed or Nate Hobbs to help with CBs.

Agreed. But, I’m pretty sure he won’t be available at our pick. That’s why I’m hoping we can franchise Sam and get something for him. Use the additional pick acquired for Sam to go get him. Detroits running game taught us a lesson.
