Not just decisive action- they actually went out and found the most qualified person to solve the problem and empowered that person to make decisions and execute them! And that person fucked up, and underestimated the rattle-on consequences of their actions and mitigate them.

It's really only the opening sequence, and the butt of the joke is actually the upper class folks, but it trips over some eugenics on the way to the punchline. It doesn't ruin the movie, but it's a rough speedbump on the way. I agree that the movie is very empathetic to our future dummies.

yeah but that opening sequence sets up the whole movie and really taints it (and I am again a huge judge fan). agreed that upper class snobs are the real butt of the joke if you spend any time thinking about it

I think if you ignore the eugenics-based premise (this is a big if) there is actually quite a lot to like in the movie. I'm a big Mike Judge defender though and think people misunderstand how he subverts truth as seen through conservative framing but I understand why ppl don't like it
