There were a few crossover characters. William B Davis, the cigarette guy got reincarnated as that Ori Prior Damaris guy in SG-1.
I've got his autograph somewhere
I have very conflicted feelings about SGU tbh. Trying to follow in BSG's footsteps and the very questionable body swapping stuff from S1 were huge turnoffs, though I heard it was finding its own feet/identity once it abandoned a lot of the ~edge~ at which point yea got its legs cut out from under it
Also, I really enjoyed what existed of Stargate universe! It felt like their answer to Battlestar Galactica at the time, and I was really looking forward to the tonal change and the exploration of the universe through the ship's journey. I know it didn't land well with a lot of people but I liked it
I was just so done with BSG at the time Universe aired I think lol. I was like 'oh my god what are you doing to my junk food show??? what the fuck???' So I'll admit to being one of the people that didn't give it much of a fair shake.
My little brother hyperfixated on this and every single Stargate property for a year, sending me various clips completely out of context the entire time, and I gotta say
He was very clearly whatshisname's personal blorbo and was treated as such. Which I think probably would've been fine if it didn't start to feel like it was being done at the expense of other characters.
Also, what they did to Weir frankly sucked tbh :')
It felt like they never knew what to do with Weir. From the beginning she seemed like a good civilian counterpoint. "Our manifest destiny can't extend across the galaxy." Then it was like, oops we're just gonna war crime our way through a new galaxy, and I'm fine with it.
IIRC the actress who played her went on record saying that was pretty much exactly the problem. They didn't know what to do with her, and weren't really spending time on developing her enough to figure it out.
