Well yes for sure but NI unionists would regard the idea of Corbyn as a disinterested mediator as equally mad. And while Blair and before him Major did a lot of work to demonstrate credibility I’m not sure Corbyn would have.

No one has credibility day 1. Had Corbyn wanted to build credibility with unionism to deal, he could have. Cabinet matters as well as delegation. Corbyn wasn't particularly ruthless - absolutely nothing on Starmer in internal power battles - and seemed to dislike actual conflict.
Equally, he could have set NI on a path to a UI. Unionism would react, but a determined British Government could mute it. Year matters. NI in 1997, 2017, 2027 are different places.
