I found three dead mice this morning in the garage. The traps and bait is working. To anyone who thinks I’m cruel the deer mice (Peromyscus keeni) are a species of white-footed mouse that live in Colorado and are known for carrying the hantavirus

I absolutely hate rodents, I don't want them anywhere in or near my home. If you have a dryer vent, get a magnetic lid for it. Mice use it as a tunnel.
Good for you. Protect your family.
Wish the Humane Society would wake up and control the coyote population. Especially the Urban Coyotes. The ruining the animal environment of the United States.
If practical - with mice that haven’t been poisoned, leave them around the outside of the garage. If a predator finds a meal there, they will likely add your place to their list of places they may find a meal. If you can get an owl or something visiting, they’ll take care of future mice
I had mine for about ten years, until it was killed by an eagle. It patrolled about an acre of “utility area” including a garage, pump house, veg garden, the main compost set up and a secondary one inside the veg garden, and a burn pile
A weird thing about eagles is that every now and again, they go through a period - usually weeks - when they completely break from their regular diet. The eagle that ate my owl had lived alongside it for years. Then one day decided to eat it. Bastard.
They need to go! I saw one in my house 😳I had to put poison down because they eat around the traps. I hope I got all of them. I know I have them when I start to see little scraps of paper on my floor. I very seldom see their poop
I have set up mouse and gopher traps before. And guess what? My dog hates mice as well, so I don't have much of a problem because my dog chases them away, and he also has been able to catch a few.
Every few years, I find a dead rat in my backyard due to the HOA’s bait program. I find the cardboard tube (cut lengthwise) from inside a roll of paper towels is a perfect way to pick them up for disposal. It’s stiff enough to support the weight and keeps your gloved hand far enough away.
You have fallen for the trap that I had fallen for. Nothing like an infestation of rodents to make me review everything I ever read about rodents. Just try not to give them names. They are vermin and they need to be eradicated. In my area, they’ve been known to carry the bubonic plague. Fun stuff. 🤪
I trap mice in my garage also. So far this winter, my count is 5. I keep track on my fridge. My late husband used to do the traps and keep count, so I carried it on.
Mice spread disease, and their predators follow them. No mice will equate to fewer snakes following a scent trail. We do what we must with the environment we find ourselves in, and no one should shame you for that.
That's where I got mine. Funny thing, I caught one and was passing it to my son to release in the field and it escaped. Days later, I heard squealing and opened a bin - they had chewed into it and had a litter of babies. Got rid of the entire family in one swoop!

You didn't have to get the Mountain Lion!
We live in the woods. The routine is part of living here.
