This. But not just London. I guess a lot of people don't understand that Brits set themselves down somewhere for Christmas and don't really move. As Jonny also says, definitely a cultural thing for as few people as possible to work so a full service isn't really necessary.

The other thing is, London is a place where a very old once small city has absorbed loads of smaller towns and villages; Christmas Day in London if you need something you can walk there in like 5m. The tube is for commuting / outings, not buying milk. There’ll be a place on the corner for that.
