Officer Eugene Goodman was indeed heroic that day, and humble in the days — and fame — that followed.

I'm fairly certain that the next time I face a rampaging mob, the first thing I'll do won't be moving my mask into an ineffective, idiotic position. I'll keep you posted.
I would love, love, love to see Officer Goodman run for Congress, as well. What a hero ~ and notice, he hasn't sought the limelight when he very well could have. We owe him a lot. 💙
January 6 will go down in history as the day that democracy prevailed. We should celebrate this victory as a national holiday—an annual reminder that democracy is fragile and should not be taken for granted.
I don't: as Madame Speaker Emeritus Nancy Pelosi reiterated this morning on @abcnews.bsky.social's #ThisWeek, I do not wish to forget the Confederate Flags under the Lincoln Dome of the Capitol, the blood spilled, the feces smeared, the threats against her and ex-VP Mike Pence, the utter disrespect.
He used the mob’s racism against them. When the mob were at the top of the stairs & they could have turned into the hall where the VP?/Senators?/Reps? hadn’t yet escaped, he taunted the mob & they followed him away from there.
