As a former CVS employee, don't go down random aisles, head for the stockroom! If they try to follow, point to the Employees only! sign and say sorry. 🤷♀️
Funny thing. In my last lecture for the semester to my Honors students this morning, I told them not to be afraid to say, "I don't know" out of fear of failure; but to follow that up with, "Let's find out together."
It’s balanced by the CVS employee who followed me out to the parking lot after I gave up looking for the thing I needed but he didn’t and actually found the thing.
I've also had the opposite, where they are not sure where it is and walk around & around in circles. And after a while I just want them to give up and PLEASE LET ME GO!
Maybe if these companies spent some time training their employees, they'd be able to locate things in the store for customers. Isn't that part of the reason they're there customer service.
Maybe when I was in my teens. It’s much better to work during these jobs, than to not. The more you’re moving, busying your mind, the less you’re focused on the time. Or how monotonous the job is, or just how much it sucks entirely.
Idk, yeah I empathize with both parties🤷🏼♂️😂
For real though, unfortunately these folks are running at half the staffing they once had so someone asking for help can really screw with their jobs. It should not be like this.
I absolutely have to admit that I have never done this. If anything, I stop what I’m doing and help someone find something even if I don’t work there.
Hopefully, one day I will have put enough good karma into the universe to bring balance!

CVS made 1.4B in profit in 2023. And they can't afford to staff their stores with the proper amount of people. Furthermore, they lock up more and more of their merchandise every day. Nothing feels more welcoming than shopping at a store that thinks you're a thief. CVS are the real thieves.
When I had United Healthcare with my job, I was forced to get my prescriptions through CVS. It was always like playing Russian Roulette. One month, the copay would be $35. The next, $350. Then $98. Then $46.
It was bizarre and maddening. And cruel.
I gave up on CVS when I noticed that the big discounts they offered me for having a CVS card made the final price more than other places. But if I had to ask where something was, I was always shown where it could be located -- usually by leading me to the place.
This happens to me every time I go to an auto parts store. It’s as if they can immediately tell that I don’t know shit about cars, and they don’t want to spend 30 minutes of their time trying to explain shit to me 😂
Only a CVS employee would say they don't know and then try to ditch you.
Actually, I guess RiteAid employees would, too. Probably many other store employees as well. However, that's super weird for the employee, not the customer. The employee got no social skills.
It's because they run with less staff than before. They need to ditch you so they can do the jobs of three workers. Happened during COVID. Less workers could do it then, we'll make them do it now.
The employee still needs social skills. "We're understaffed and I have other things I have to do" really drives your point home, if it's true at the time.
Shit, now I'm gunna get written up for saying that... Don't attack these people, they have enough time affording food and rent while doing 3 jobs at as close to minimum wage as possible. Take notice of suffering, call the main office, complain that it's understaffed, the employees look overwhelmed.
When a store employee actually assists me to find something, I feel overcome with gratitude since it’s such a rare treat. “Oh, thank you so much for telling me the cold brew coffee is on Aisle 8! Thank you, I found it! I appreciate all your help! That was amazing!”
Trader Joe’s is the best. They practically hand you the item, while suggesting something that might work even better. And there is always a kind worker right there!
I go into different kinds of stores to evaluate customer service as an independent contractor. Been doing this for about 20 years. I've had people try to escape me rather than engage and they end up in a report.

Be me. When they walk
Me over it’s even better although if they’d just said aisle 7 I could have found it
