It is. The Union and the company made an agreement, the union members were waiting for the contracts. In the mean time the company extended some extra benefits and raise to the non-union member employees too. You're right, it is complicated... or not.
This is actually super misleading. The people who have been there the longest just got a raise of $1 a year to now make $30. The vast majority of employees make well under that. Starting wage is $20. It takes about 5 to 6 full time years to reach $30 and they only hire part time.
Um... Their support in the 🇵🇸Genocide perhaps? #BoycottCostco
Y'all need to look at every angle of a company not just the good parts.

Not at all. They still average around 25% less than regular grocery stores. That whole "paying a living wage causes prices to go up" is a lie the bosses tell the gullible and the bootlickers so they will work for less
I haven’t seen any difference for their prices. I shop there every week since I only spend my family budget at Costco. From last year, I don’t see any change. The business model of Costco is different from the other companies. Their profit is from membership fees, not from merchandise they carry.
And Cosco workers deserve every penny for the hard work they are doing to handle the huge crowds. I was at a local Cosco midday last week on Thursday, the parking lot was full, and lines were long with every checker station open and checking at lightning speed but still could barely keep up.
I'm retiring from the military and I have half a mind to just get a job at Costco lol. That is as long as the clown show in charge doesn't gut the VA. Which seems very possible... Fml...
They built their business model on 1)employees first and 2)only allowing a set, limited mark up on prices.
Thirdly to make stock holders happy, but only by not changing 1 or 2.
Wow.
I have a Master’s Degree in the sciences and topped out at about $28/hr.
Good on Costco and good for their employees. Goes to show that organizations can be both fair AND profitable.
Costco, I’m doubling down because you’re doubling down. Way to Go!!
I am creating a group in my area in order to shop and cost share at my Costco here. We will be sharing costs and recipes with each other in order to share those supersized items.
More to come.
Thank you. Living wages for all Americans. This is the resistance. When people are paid well, they can afford to have families and live peacefully. Higher wages also go back into the government to fund Democracy. We need more businesses protecting people instead of exploiting us!
Yes, but helmsman, you can't run a successful business paying people such high wages…
… oh wait, Costco stock has returned nearly twice what the S&P 500 has over the last five years.
are any investors out there willing to short sell Musk and Trump companies? You know like the billionaires tried to do GameStop bad but millions of tiny investors saved it.
Costco already gets a fair share of our household budget. But now I'm becoming a fan girl. Got this pin while working a job fair not too long ago. Haha!
#costcojunkie
I too am a #costcojunkie and love their $1.50 hotdog, but discovered I had heart blockage, so no more 🌭 for me. 😢 Their frozen Kirkland salmon burgers are a regular purchase for me !
Renewing my membership after a lengthy lapse the CS clerk asked what brings you to Costco? My response was your board and shareholders told the orange turd to get bent..... she said, we're getting a lot of those answers lately.
I selfishly wish the MAGAs would boycott “woke” Costco. It would be nice shopping knowing it’s like minded people and the lines would be much more reasonable.
I bought a tiny bit Costco stock today (it’s expensive), but I want to support ethical
Businesses. Also, during economic downturns (which is where we’re headed), Costco is a good bet. We’ll need the savings.
I've been wondering what part of "DEI" has MAGA so upset.
Diversity? We should all want to be carbon copies of each other?
Equality? We should be against fairness?
Inclusion? We all should wish to be excluded?
I know it just a trumped up talking point strawman, but you have to wonder.
I got my membership with them a couple days ago. I dont even care if I never go back there, support good practices and shun trash ones and we can recover our country.
I personally would be very enthusiastic; the nearest Costco is almost 2 hours away. I’ve never even been in one but I already know I would choose Costco over Amazon if I had that choice.
Plan a family day trip; it's definitely worthwhile, especially if you intend to dine at their food court. Kids will adore the pizza, hot dogs, sandwiches, and ice cream.
That’s a great idea. The kids are adults & out on their own, but both my husband and I have been known to occasionally scarf down less than healthy fare from a food truck😄😬 So it works.
The warehouse can stock so much. You can find almost anything from their website. I purchased window treatments, insurance policies, travel packages, electronic piano and so on. Whenever my family needs something, I search Costco website. My family can live only from Costco purchases.
Idk if this is a hot take, but I don’t want an Amazon. 4,000 listings for the exact same product for different prices from sellers of questionable reviews. It’s gotten so shitty it’s not usable (until I deleted my account over a month ago). I’d rather Costco keep its rep for great products.
I don't have a lot of money for the stock market, only enough play with it as if it were Vegas. But I'm very glad that I sold off all my bits and pieces elsewhere to buy a few shares of Costco.
There were so many good ones. I know there's always been a little bit of hostility among the parties, but previous presidents didn't mind cracking jokes at themselves.
It's a hell of a lot more than other companies are doing
At Costco, pay isn’t static. The longer you work, the more you earn. you get a $1.00 increase every 1040 hours worked. After about 5 years of fulltime employees can qualify for top pay - currently over $30/hr
Plus Costco has many items that are ORGANIC too. They are doing such a great job, but sometimes they move items around where can't find them, and they offer no app that provides an in-store GPS.
When people support Costco they then invest that into their workers, instead of pocketing the money. Other companies should take lessons from them on how to treat employees right. Also, would love to see Costco expand their goods and someday overtake Amazon. A girl can dream.
Costco boasts an employee retention rate of 94%, achieved by offering above-average retail wages and full medical and dental benefits even to part-time employees.
Thanks. And I really appreciate the work you do. Honestly, the only thing I dislike about Costco is some of the customers. Rude and entitled hardly covers it, and y'all just take it in stride with a smile. Retail workers are super hero's
Costco predominantly contributed to Democratic congressional and federal candidates, with 68.1% and 69% of the total amount of dollars, respectively, Open Secrets data shows.
I am aware and made a personal choice for all the reasons I stated. Instead I don't overconsume. If I need something I buy gently used. I grow a little produce, buy from a farmers market, swap meets, craigslist, barter, OfferUp etc.
Imagine that! Turns out you don’t have to be a heartless, slave driving, profit hungry asshat to succeed in business. The ‘kind’ of good news we all need right now ❤️
We have Market Basket in NE also run by a great guy. When there was an issue with who would take over the company - the workers went on strike to be sure they got the boss they wanted.
Since I will not buy ANYTHING from Amazon, Target, or Walmart, or any company supporting the felon, Costco is almost my last hope. I now have to drive 46 miles to shop there, and I do, but I’m hearing they may open one closer!!!
I gave in recently and did. I got a Groupon, so it really only cost $45 instead of $65 ($20 in Costco credit). I don't have a lot of space, so big bulk purchases weren't the driver, but figured I'd save the membership cost with their lower gas price and the occasional $1.50 hot dog meal.
Excellent returns policy and their Hearing Aid and Vision centers have better service than and Dr's office I've been to. Costco is my #1 for so many reason.
About 18,000 Costco employees are unionized, which is roughly 8% of the company's U.S. workers
The union represents workers at Costco locations in California, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Washington
What are the union's demands? fair wages and benefits.

I’m genuinely surprised, but happy to know this.

That's my only gripe😂😂😂
It’s building low-cost housing above one of its stores in a pilot program.
Go, Costco!

And I'll die on that hill.

They could do it.
It would be awesome.
I went to my local one a while ago for the first time and they were busted with work
After all....He is....
The most insecure man in the World.
Dear American companies... your actions have consequences!

Respects their employees so likely to respect their customers.
Reputation is all.
Ask Trump and Musk.

JK, I shop there more than at Safeway.
Wish it was true

I wish they were closer to me, and that they sold smaller packs of produce, but what can you do
