Given all the constraints, I thought this year’s #NBAAllStar was overall pretty good. All the complaining is obnoxious, and so many of the complainers outright admit they didn’t even watch.

The proximity of the two events is definitely a factor, which means that it's hard to get that one is the season finale for the NFL while the other is a midseason event meant to celebrate the talent in the NBA (though it's become more of an event for the corporate sponsors of the league)

just need to hoop at pick up intensity and over the years they have not. Fans just want them to seem like they care. Max McClung won dunk contest 3 years in a row with no big name stars to challenge him. We come to see stars so be stars in the skills competition, 3pt contest, and dunk contest

But isolating this to an NBA issue is narrow-of-vision, at best. You see this type of complaint everywhere.

I just rewatched the 98 and 88 ASGs. They are pure fire.

The players today atrophied the ASG into the podcast-like trainwreck we saw this weekend.

To now pin this on the fans is pathetic.

It definitely isn’t all on the fans. Last night deserved the criticism it’s getting. The players let the ASG slip as a product.

My main point is that fans have a tendency to complain—truthfully, our entire culture does. Social media platforms embolden people to complain and hate on everything

Exactly. So it isn't an NBA issue. It's indicative of a larger societal issue.

There's more coverage re: "fans complaining" than there is "fans getting price gouged to death".

Players get paid. Owners get paid. Fans pay more.
