It feels like comp is in a state where it just "feels dead" there's been a growing influx of players but people are spread thin especially with tournaments these days. I'm not sure if this is players not wanting to enter non skill capped events like ITZ or just the sheer amount of events.

Hope the Splatoon scene comes back in a big way in 2025 ❤️
It requires a lot of work to find what things are obviously (its different having the pov of climbing another game already and knowing what to look for) but I still wish stuff like ITZ or fry basket had more.
sure you might need that but idk it seems risky to me
i don't think these kinds of comments are referring to low ink teams
the thing that confuses me, at least, is that the conversion rate to seeking high/top level feels like literally 0.1%
and so the scene feels lifeless because barely anyone new even seems to be *trying*
do you have insight on that conversion rate?
and i feel like it's not controversial to say that normally the lower level should aim up and not the other way around
i play comp with the main goal of having fun, not becoming the best player
i do strive for improvement but only to a point where it stays fun for me; after a certain amount it just gets frustrating
and sendouq doesn't interest me at all, i'm not a social person and playing seriously with randoms isn't something i enjoy at all
"What IF" content runs dry after third kits. There is a lot of exploration to still be done about learning the game.
We need to stay curious and push our understanding of how to play the game.
There was a lot of players getting upset with me when I played Low Ink & I didn't wanna bother with that for a 4th time, so I retired & became a coach instead.
Also feel like [REDACTED] had a ripple effect on the comp scene as a whole & it killed drive.
Like, no. How you win it is by shooting your guns better than your opponents for 2 days; not "my Div 5 ass needs a Stamper player to carry us", & I think that should be a problem later in the pipeline than now.
Aside from Moonlight, it's just pickup culture, which people seem to want the team storylines. Me personally I don't care.
We kicked out the people who uploaded/streamed their matches consistently(for VERY good reasons), and no one wants to do it besides moonlight and chara.
(It's all in storage.)
Now I'm just editing from my phone & I'm playing on a Switch Lite.
to me ITZ is like our baby, slightly-less-often version of area cup and SQ finale is in my mind plenty competitive cuz sendou's got a solid prize pot going
honestly tho idk how you fix the issue rn cuz top level is all pickups so there needs to be an actual team that necessitates the creation of other teams to beat them
until then there can be no storylines that aren't manufactured/involving a bunch of players being subbed back and forth
LUTI really is the glue holding together low DIVs rn. We need an event to generate hype that happens consistently.
I always have to have one
