Lois McMaster Bujold. She writes breathtakingly good fantasy ("Penric" series) and SF ("Vorkosigan" series). I remember the first time I read one of her stories ("The Mountains of Mourning"), 35 years ago, with the same clarity I do JFK's assassination.
This is a hard question, I have at least 6 favourite authors but if forced to pick just one right now I'd have to say Jasper Fforde. His style of absurdist fantasy makes him impossible to predict, and the journeys he takes you on are odd, fantastic, and wonderful.
If I had to pick just one, Kristopher Triana. He write extreme horror. His writing style is kinda gritty and he has a way of writing really deplorable characters that will make your skin crawl.
I second Hendrix! I have a lot of fun when reading through his books. I really enjoy how creative his books are too - example is Horrorstor. The way itβs set up as a knockoff IKEA and he commits to the bit with the physical book is π€π
