Definitely. Have a careful look at UPSs. See if you can find one where someone has looked at the output waveform on an oscilloscope. There are many out there that output nasty waveforms and whilst the PSU in your machine will sort it out, it will be working hard and won’t last as long.

The specifications should note if the output is a pure sine wave or step approximated.

Also important to check the power draw of the PSU. Some of the beefy ones are too much for typical “pc” sized UPSs.

Depends on where you are. I live in a snowy area where an annual power outage isn't all that unusual.

Add in all the "once in a lifetime storms" we've lived through and I'd say even the really not great $50 Amazon one would be better than nothing.

Long enough for you to save and safely shut it down.

A good PSU is worth it. Last I read, the Amazon Basics one doesn't do passthrough so if your power goes out and comes back before the battery dies it won't draw from the house again until you manually flip a switch on it.
