An article from the Heritage Foundation about education.
Aren't they the ones trying to cancel the Dept of Ed and support Christian *tax-exempt* schools with government vouchers?
Yes, and our taxes pay for school vouchers.
Make that *white* Christian tax-exempt schools.
Test scores are one metric, but let's look at actual Department of Education impacts. Since 1980: graduation rates rose 15%, college enrollment up 12%, and Title IX revolutionized female education access.
Special Education transformation: Pre-federal oversight, 1.8M disabled students were banned from public schools. Today: 7.3M receive services, with 95% in regular schools. That's what federal education oversight achieved.
On standardized tests: When 10% of students took SATs/ACTs, scores were higher. Now with 50%+ taking them, scores reflect broader access to college opportunities. More students pursuing higher education is a win.
The Department of Education's impact: millions more educated, broader opportunities, stronger workforce.
If tests were all that mattered, many of us wouldn't be where we are today. Public education has created successful Americans because opportunity and access matter more than standardized scores.
We need to consider NOT using far-right or far-left think thanks as our source of “proof” for anything. This is biased information funded purposely to be biased.
As a researcher, I am willing to take a look at orgs that lean right or left, as long the information is solid and analysis reasonable. Heritage, the Federalist Society, and similar are propaganda centres. Heritage was a reputable organization a couple of decades ago, until Jim Demint came.
Well….valid. However, there are groups who endeavor to study things with integrity and facts. But most people don’t bother to dig deep enough to understand that they need to follow the money to find the driver for the think tank. We just love our confirmation bias.
Agreed, like in this example: education in Germany is very much dominated by the member states, and immigration is skewing the results, too. So conclusions drawn by the comparison in the article don't seem valid.
Still would be good to see evaluation of the performance of policies, though.
That’s pretty rich Zoe. Your profile picture is quite literally not reality. Anyway, maybe you can school us all - what’s “reality?” Or are you just here to call strangers nasty names? Maybe you need a cup of coffee. Or a nap. Or a hug?
Your username supports your post. Education didn’t teach you what socialism is and what it isn’t. Capitalism kills as much as socialism. That’s why we have a mixed economy.

For that you let fly an obscenity.
Just block and curate your pure pure sphere.
You can start with me that's ok.
Tariffs.
