LA has its problems but I will never get over how cool it is to be able to go around the city and see writing/sings in Korean, Armenian, Spanish, Farsi, etc

Someone recently mentioned how you walk down city streets in Auckland (New Zealand) and “don’t even know what country you are in”… and I’m like, yeah it fucking rules. Cultural diversity always, cos yo our British derived cuisine sucked!
Ironic because that experience of being confronted by multiculturalism is exactly what scares the shit our of people who support Trump and your disowned manchild dad.
I live in a small town known for a thriving Yemeni and Mexican community. I often fantasize about still living in a city because of all the Spanish and Arabic I see.
Last time I was there, I went around taking pictures of the restaurants vying with each other to advertise cross-cultural food mashups (Japanese tacos, etc.)
Not to knock LA, but that’s a lot of big cities. You see that in dc all the time. Hell, it’s locally a law that government messages have to be in Amharic because of how big the Ethiopian diaspora is here.
Was going to say that! Toronto just has such a vibe, like the entire world is right there and all of it is colliding with itself. The really interesting stuff is where that collision happens.
