Are the EU offering any concessions in exchange for a youth mobility scheme? I haven’t seen any, so I don’t understand the “gagging for” or the “blushful virgin” tags.

Can the EU not have a discussion without the UK “holding all the cards”?

John, the EU is not offering this scheme to any other country. In that sense, it is a concession, in our favour. Of course it is a great deal less than EU members enjoy, but, it does offer valuable experiences and skills that will benefit our youngsters. We would be stupid to turn it down.

He’s terrified of doing anything that resembles freedom of movement, or that can be interpreted as a concession to the EU. The right wing press have him over a barrel, but since they hate him no matter what he does, there’s little point trying to appease or win favour IMO

After a 6 week whirlwind romance with a German exchange student in Oxford in 1980 I just packed a rucksack and left for Germany. I feel sorry for today's youth ( or anybody) who can no longer take advantage of this opportunity to see where life will lead you. I don't regret a second of it.

One of the hardest things about Brexit, other than torpedoing our economy, impoverishing our society, and becoming an international irrelevance/laughing stock, was making our children 2nd class citizens (those unlucky enough not to have Irish or EU heritage). 🙄
