No, the “partisan divide” is not leaving many Americans in a state of denial. Americans choosing a state of denial have created a partisan divide. The divide starts with them; it is their fault. Don’t confuse cause and effect.

We bring up the issue of the partisan divide because the Pew survey continues to show a serious split on American opinions on climate based on their political party. Extremist ideology makes it especially challenging to sway deniers, even when they are presented with a mountain of evidence. [2/2]

All right, do confuse cause and effect. Some advocates of action to mitigate and adapt to climate change are so deeply resistant to abandoning the “mountain of evidence” mode of argument they refuse to recognize ideology as something chosen freely rather than imposed from outside.
