like they will say they're depicting a dystopia but also that dystopia is always super technologically advanced and clean and comfortable. like they clearly think that maybe a little fascism would get them to that point, so long as they can then walk back the parts they don't like about it.

there's a liberal assumption that fascism works, it does all the things they say it will but it does then in bad ways. and it's clearly all just because they believe in the myth about the trains running on time and the nazi economic miracle. they take fascist propaganda at face value

every dystopia that depicts "what if the germans had won" assumes that they then see continued meteoric economic growth and technological development, something that wasn't even true when the war started. and like, that's just accepting the nazis at their word. which is probably pretty telling.
