Today’s Meditation was exactly what I needed to read, for so many reasons that I won’t bore you with. I’ve had to take a step back from it all for my physical and mental health, and your words help in ways I truly appreciate. Thank you!
Best post yet! Thank you. ❤️ As a former SF resident, I know all the places you mentioned, which made it that much more emotional for me. Your work matters so much right now.
Rebecca, I have been reading your words for many years and today am taking great comfort in them, exactly as that term is defined here. Mahalo nui loa for all of it.
Thank you for this, Rebecca. I find, the more I show kindness, the more it comes back to me in so many unexpected ways. There are moments of zero response but for the most part, it's as you've so beautifully described here. This is the way. 💙
I lived in SF for 17 years. I spent my first 27 years in Colorado & lived near Grass Valley/Nevada City for almost 8 years post-SF. I’ve lived in Costa Rica now for over 3 years. I only ever get homesick for San Francisco. Cliff’s is really a magical place & it’s one of the things I miss the most. 💜
I lived in the Bay Area for 21 years, SF for 9 years, and currently live in Grass Valley, and I have to tell you that I agree. There is a magic about SF that will never leave my soul.
STAND UP!
WE'RE HERE FOR THE RUMBLE.
It's a time for more than fierce compassion. Be fierce, do an activity everyday. It's self care. Be the rain, the howling wind, and the mountainous wave. Be the storm. Be the broken record and watch the video. Pass it on.
People keep posting this in response to my posts, and I'm pretty sure my friend and collaborator Sabrina Cartan made it for us shortly after the inauguration & first big coup thing on January 27th. Just nice to see it getting around.
I loved this. And this: "there is so much that tells us-wrongly-that we have no power." I had a convo with a customer tonight, a historian, who says this is hopeless, better practice that goose-step, and I said: oh no no no. Are we not Americans? We are raucous. We are untamable. We are awake.
The hardware store bit really got me. My shop is like a salon, a confessional, a safe space for all us weirdos. Occasionally the drama goes a bit Italian funeral––as well as the gift bags I once bought accidentally: sorry for your loss, here's some Champagne.
