Merz criticized the current German government for refusing to send long-range weapons to Ukraine 😊
However, this should be the Ukrainians decision alone, without any undue pressure from outsiders far removed from the fighting.
There is always a balance to be struck between the needs of the military, the economy and of society in general.
Getting more soldiers trained is never a mistake, whether it is a younger cohort of men or women. Having them trained does not mean they have to be deployed to the front lines. They can be used in logistics, administration, maintenance & repair and thus free up others.
I hope he is making the right decision for Ukraine.
Better to get more soldiers trained and in the field and then not need them for dangerous roles thanks to tech than to need fighters and not have them.
