…This critique misses several fundamental points. E.g. 1) while US agriculture *Yes Actively Is Terrible For The Environment*, its power needs (definitely not water) are often integrated into our logistics in ways which help mitigate those impacts, something which absolutely isn't true for "AI."

That's what they keep promising, but it doesn't yet bear out at the scale these companies keep trying to push. Hence the calls to co-opt nuclear or promises that the "AI" itself will somehow develop new renewable and sustainable models. In the meantime, water use, waste heat, & emissions skyrocket.
