Well, I have to be more careful with my words. I literally can. But I guess I want to believe I can't believe? I feel like I'm in some weird paradox at the moment.
But don't forget that they will also do the cable circuit decrying broken, backroom promises made by Rs regarding impoundments. It's Charlie Brown and the football over, and over, and over again.
Term limits in Congress won't solve the problem, but they certainly wouldn't hurt. Or leadership on either side with a spine. McConnell, as shitty as he was, and Pelosi, as flawed as she was, both had one.
McConnell as Minority Leader would have voted no and let shutdown happen. Because they’d have to come to him to start it back up. Whatever you want to say about him, he looked at the long game. Every time.
Oh I absolutely agree. Delaying the SCOTUS pick with President Clinton looming was such a master class in political maneuvering. Completely disagree on constitutional and morale grounds, but he successfully shaped the Courts and politics for decades.

They kept loudly claiming “we will get blamed!” while also courting all the blame.
Republicans are like “not our fucking fault go away”
Where’s Nancy Pelosi? Can we make her Senate Minority Leader?
The constant for both? They care about either ratings or polls and bend everything else to those ends. Everything.
But here we are.
And that’s a leader. McConnell very good at this.
His one huge mistake? Conviction on impeachment for January 6. He needed to draw them toward conviction. But he truly thought Trump was done.
They are not getting it and this is going to spiral as much because of them as Trump.
You have to remember that he’s never had to go from Speaker to minority leader. That’s a lesson all in its own.
Yes he needs to rabble-rouse more. But you have to remember Pelosi was good at it because she had practice.
